Cooperation with Klangforum Wien - Performance Practice of Live Electronics

Since 2021 the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM) at the KUG Graz cooperates with Klangforum Wien, one of the world's leading contemporary music ensembles. In the Master's course "Aufführungspraxis der Live-Elektronik" (Performance Practice of Live Electronics), students realize and perform the live electronics for works of the contemporary repertoire under professional concert conditions, typically at the Wiener Konzerthaus.

Students analyze scores and historical context, implement and adapt electronic sound processes using the open-source platform Pure Data (Pd), rehearse with the ensemble, and perform before large audiences. In 2023 and 2025 composer Philippe Manoury and software pioneer Miller Puckette (creator of Pure Data and Max/MSP) worked directly with the students.
